Is this a good camera for a beginner???
Hey so, as i said in my last question i am interested in photography. I told my dad and he thought it was a good idea so we went to go buy one. But now apparently if for "the whole family" so i am not getting my own until christmas! Anyways it is a Kodak Z1285. It has 5×, 12.0 mp, some other stuff that i don't understand right now, but once i start studying photography im sure i'll learn. anyways is that a good camera for a beginner? Its just like a normal sorta digital camera. So any opinions?

Allot of people believe that a DSLR camera is the only way to go, but that isn't the case at all.
When you're just starting out the important things to grasp are how to plan a good photo (texture, shape, pattern, lighting, colour, composition, rule of thirds, leading lines etc), and how to manually control your camera via ISO, aperture, and shutter speed. All of those planning a good photo things can be done on a camera phone, you don't need anything special, and it's arguably the most important aspect of photography. Controlling the aperture, shutter speed and ISO are all about controlling how light enters the camera. You CAN do this on your camera.
When you move along you will want to look at a DSLR camera, because it offers greater flexibility and control. For a beginner though... there's nothing wrong with this camera.
Remember, you should focus on planning the photo and controlling ISO, aperture, and shutter speed. Planning a photo can't be overemphasized. A person who can't do this but has a great camera still won't take good shots.
